Give yourself more smile-confidence

If you have one or more missing teeth, with healthy teeth on either side of the gap, a dental bridge is a great way to provide you with replacement teeth. It is particularly effective when you have a few teeth to replace in a row, along one side of your mouth.

Crowns will be placed on adjacent teeth to the gap, with the artificial tooth or teeth cemented in the middle. This is a dental bridge. Our dental bridges near Brighton will restore your smile and give you new securely fixed teeth, which are colour-matched to your existing ones and look entirely natural. Your replacement teeth will help you eat a variety of foods and fix any speech problems.

To fit crowns on to the teeth adjacent to your gap, some enamel will need to be removed from them. These teeth will be shaped sufficiently to allow for a good fit and impressions will be made.

The impressions will then be sent to the lab where your custom made dental bridge will be created. When your dental bridge arrives back at our practice near Brighton, you will have another appointment during which we will fit the dental bridge.

Everything you need to know

Can anyone have a bridge?

It depends on how healthy the teeth and gums either side of the gap are, as well as how supported these adjacent teeth are by bone. There also needs to be enough of your adjacent teeth remaining to have crowns fitted onto them.

How will I look after my bridge?

You will use a toothbrush to clean it and floss after every meal. Looking after your bridge properly is as easy as properly looking after your teeth.

Are there any side-effects?

There is a slight risk of inflammation or gum infection with any major dental procedure, but your dentist will advise you on how to best look after your teeth following your treatment.

What does having a bridge involve?

The healthy, adjacent teeth will be shaped in order to receive the crowns which will anchor the bridge to your mouth. When this is done, your dentist will make impressions of the missing teeth and the adjacent teeth, which will then be sent to the lab to create your bridge. Your custom bridge will be fitted when it arrives back at our surgery.

What are stick-on bridges?

Acid etch bridges are an inexpensive, less permanent solution, which are held in place by wings bonded to the teeth. Whether or not you’re a suitable candidate for this type of bridge, depends on where in the mouth the bridge is required. We can advise.
