Invisalign for adults in Steyning

Model Winnie Harlow has been quoted in many style magazines this week, giving her support for Invisalign braces. The points she makes is that if beauty is important for your career, or the confidence you have in your looks is important for your happiness, then why shouldn’t you wear braces. She was, we believe, addressing those who seek to publish photos of her braces ‘shame’, but what shame is there in seeking an aesthetic treatment which is making a positive change?

Here at the Down House Dental Practice in Steyning we have experienced an increase in the number of adults enquiring about braces for themselves, not just their children. Invisalign braces are a very popular choice amongst adults seeking to improve tooth alignment, simply because they’re so discreet. Virtually invisible in the mouth, comfortable to wear and removed when eating or toothbrushing is about to take place, Invisalign braces fit conveniently into your lifestyle without drawing extreme attention to your teeth.

How do Invisalign braces work?

Invisalign braces are quite unlike traditional braces. Your dentist won’t bond any part of the aligner trays to your teeth, but instead will fit them snuggly over them in the same way a sports mouthguard would be fitted. The braces are made of thin, transparent thermoplastic and custom-produced to fit your individual set of teeth.

Whilst they’re being worn, these aligner trays will exert pressure on critically malaligned teeth in order to bring them back into line. Over the course of your treatment, you’ll wear a series of trays, one after the other, with each new tray furthering the journey of your teeth until they reach their final straight position.

Once your treatment is complete, your teeth should be straight. You’ll have confidence in your smile and additionally your teeth will be easier to clean due to the lack of concealed surfaces; a common occurrence with overlapping teeth.

It also means you’ll be less likely to experience serious tooth decay.
