How do Invisalign braces work?

When we look at traditional braces, it seems obvious to us how they can be used to move teeth into a more flattering position. Brackets, which are bonded to the tooth surfaces, hold the wires in place. The wires are then periodically tightened by your dentist in Steyning, in order to maintain a constant pressure on the teeth and ensure continual movement.

Invisalign braces are an entirely different system. They consist of thin, clear, plastic trays that are designed to fit snugly over your individual set of teeth. Pressure is applied in this way to force the teeth to move. However, because the plastic trays are transparent, they are very discreet. It’s a lot harder to tell when somebody is wearing Invisalign braces, than when traditional braces are being worn.

How long will you wear your Invisalign braces?

During your treatment period, the length of which will vary according to the nature of the orthodontic issues you’re experiencing, you won’t just be fitted with the one aligner tray. With every adjustment of the positioning of your teeth, you will receive a new tray from your Steyning-based dentist to continue the journey of your teeth.

Invisalign braces can correct a number of problems, including overlapping or protruding teeth, bite issues, as well as be used to reduce gaps. When you visit our dental practice near Steyning, we’ll be able to advise you on how long you need to wear the braces to achieve a beautiful new smile with straight teeth. If it’s just the social 6 teeth at the front of your mouth that could do with a bit of alignment, you could find you’re the owner of a more attractive smile in just a few short weeks.

The advantages of Invisalign

One of the major benefits of Invisalign braces is that they are removable. You will take them out before you eat and before you brush your teeth. This means you will avoid wearing your food prominently on your braces as is often the case with traditional wires. You’ll be able to keep your teeth a lot cleaner than prohibitive wires and brackets will allow.

There are over 4 million Invisalign customers worldwide who are testimony to the fact that Invisalign braces are effective. One of the major reasons they’re so popular is because they’re so discreet. If you feel embarrassed about your teeth, the last thing you want to do in order to treat them, is draw more attention to them.  Invisalign braces are virtually invisible.
